Summary

Part-time (2 days per week) | Fixed term – 12 months

Are you someone who takes pride in safe, clean and welcoming communities—and wants to make a real difference where people live?
We’re looking for a proactive and community‑focused Housing Caretaker to join us on a part‑time, 12‑month fixed‑term basis, supporting our neighbourhoods across Merseyside.

Who we are:

Plus Dane provides homes and services to over 30,000 people across Merseyside and Cheshire. Our aim is to tackle social inequality by enabling individuals and communities to thrive and our customer team is at the heart of what we do.

Working with our customers really does change people’s lives and if you want to make a difference Plus Dane is the place to be!

We live by our values of working together, achieving for our customers, taking ownership, and having the opportunity to learn and grow.

About the Role:

As a Housing Caretaker, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering high‑quality estate management services, ensuring our communal areas are safe, compliant and welcoming for residents.

Key responsibilities include:

Carrying out regular communal inspections to ensure compliance with fire safety, health & safety and legal requirements
Identifying hazards, obstructions and environmental issues, recording findings and arranging follow‑up actions
Testing fire panel equipment and emergency lighting, and undertaking communal water flushing to reduce legionella risk
Managing communal keys and fobs and supporting contractor access arrangements
Working closely with Neighbourhood Housing Teams to support service plans, new build and reinvestment programmes
Monitoring and reporting contractor performance on communal services.
Building positive relationships with residents, colleagues, contractors and external partners

You’ll be a visible presence across our estates and a trusted point of contact, helping to sustain safe, well‑managed communities.

What You’ll Bring

Proven experience of delivering excellent customer service
A good understanding of health & safety requirements and compliance
Experience of working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
Strong communication skills, with the ability to remain professional, organised and confidential
Competence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office.
Full driving licence, access to a car for business use, and willingness to drive as required for the role.
Experience of inspecting communal areas within a housing or customer‑facing environment is desirable.

What you’ll get in return:

This is a part‑time, fixed‑term role (2 days per week for 12 months). Your main base will be Merseyside, though occasional cover in Cheshire may be required, so flexibility and a full UK driving licence is essential.

You’ll be generously rewarded with a competitive salary and a great benefits package, including 35 days’ annual leave (pro rata), plus bank holidays. This includes a 3-day Christmas closedown between Christmas and New Year and you have the option to buy up to 5 extra days annually.

You’ll also benefit from a company pension scheme where we contribute 10%, and colleagues can contribute anything from 3% upwards. We’re committed to our people’s wellbeing supported by an excellent management team, wellbeing champions, and mental health first aiders.

We actively encourage personal development, with plenty of opportunities to progress your career and access ongoing training, including formal qualifications.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
