Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

Required for September 2026, we are seeking to appoint TWO enthusiastic, positive and flexible SEND Teaching Assistants to join the team at our vibrant village school.

The successful candidates must have:

• GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in both English and Maths
• Experience of working with children in the primary age range, or experience of working with people with additional needs (any age group)
• The ability to work as part of a team
• A professional approach and high personal standards

A practical understanding of difficulties associated with Communication and Interaction Needs (including Autism) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (including ADHD) would be advantageous.

These roles have been specifically created to support changing needs among our cohort. The successful candidates will work with several children, supporting them individually, in small groups and in the classroom. Some of the work will involve helping children to transition from intervention groups into the classroom, enabling them to access the mainstream curriculum.

Our teaching assistants are fully involved in the life of the school and this will also be an expectation of new staff. The role will also include break duty cover, outdoor learning and lunchtime supervision.

SAFER RECRUITMENT

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. In line with safer recruitment practice, an enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants. References will be sought for shortlisted applicants prior to interview and will form part of the interview process. We will also conduct an online search for shortlisted applicants.

Applicants will need to fully complete an application form. Please note that a CV alone will not be accepted as a complete application.

What the school offers its staff

Boughton Primary School is a good school (OFSTED January 2023) with fantastic children, a great team spirit, supportive parents and highly-skilled staff and governors. You can see all the school has to offer by visiting our website: www.boughtonprimaryschool.org.uk

Further details about the role

Visits to the school are welcomed. Please contact our school office on 01604 842322 to arrange an appointment.

We would also be interested in considering applications from candidates available during the summer term. Please indicate this on your application form, or contact the school directly.

The roles are linked to named children and would cease should the children leave the school. Equally, there is the possibility of extending both roles beyond the fixed-term period. We would be happy to discuss this further with any candidate we shortlist.

We will gladly answer any questions you may have about the jobs by email or phone. Please contact our School Business Manager, Michelle Murphy: bursar@boughton.northants-ecl.gov.uk or telephone 01604 842322.

Interviews will take place during w.c. 8th June 2026.

Commitment to safeguarding

Boughton Primary is committed to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The school’s recruitment and selection policies/processes follow DfE guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ by adhering to statutory responsibilities to check staff who work with children, taking proportionate decisions on whether to ask for any checks beyond what is required. In line with KCSIE and best practice, the school will conduct an online search for all shortlisted candidates, including a DBS check. Applicants will be required to provide proof of Right to Work in the UK.
