About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Installations Engineer to join our growing technical team in Colchester. You will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and basic maintenance of equipment and systems at client sites, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
This role involves both independent work and collaboration with project managers, service teams, and customers across a variety of installation environments.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out on-site installation of equipment, systems, or machinery according to technical specifications
Conduct system testing, commissioning, and functional checks
Diagnose and resolve basic technical issues during installation
Interpret technical drawings, manuals, and wiring diagrams
Ensure all installations comply with company and industry safety standards
Complete accurate installation reports and documentation
Liaise with clients on-site to provide updates and ensure satisfaction
Support preventative maintenance and servicing when required
Travel to customer sites as required (local and regional)
Requirements
Previous experience as an Installations Engineer, Field Engineer, or similar technical role
Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems (depending on industry)
Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Full UK driving licence
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Desirable Skills
Experience in [relevant sector: telecoms / security systems / HVAC / industrial equipment / IT hardware]
Electrical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent)
CSCS card or other site certifications
IPAF or PASMA certification (if working at height is involved)
Basic networking or systems integration knowledge
