Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
Required for 1 September 2026, the Trustees are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and qualified teacher of Science who is able to teach Science in KS3-4. The ability to teach Physics to A Level would be desirable.
All three Science subjects have a strong track record of achievement in both KS4 and KS5 over time and all three are popular at A Level. All KS4 students take 3 separate sciences with the overwhelming majority entered at higher tier. The department is resourced with three technicians who offer strong support to the team of highly qualified teachers. Each separate science is led by their own curriculum leader.
The role is particularly suitable either for a colleague looking to develop their professional career within a high performing context or someone looking to enter the profession in a school that offers an excellent Induction programme for ECTs or new colleagues
The department also offers a range of extra-curricular opportunities which you would be expected to support and contribute to.
What the school offers its staff
The School is committed to excellence in professional development and an extensive well-being programme is in place with many benefits including reduced gym membership at CCCU, event afternoons throughout the year and other benefits offered by BCAT and Kent Rewards.
Commitment to safeguarding
In line with KCSIE 2022 guidance, part of the shortlisting process, the Trust reserves the right to conduct an online search on shortlisted candidates as part of our due diligence and any relevant information found concerning a candidate's suitability to work with children will be discussed at interview stage. Barton Court Grammar School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application via the Disclosure & Barring Service and check against the ISA Barred List for Children.
