The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust would like to appoint a Substantive Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon as part of a planned expansion to join a dynamic team of consultant hip and knee orthopaedic surgeons.
We have a vacancy in the Trauma, Orthopaedic & Rheumatology Directorate for a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with special interest in knee arthroplasty, revision knee arthroplasty and management of prosthetic joint infections. The appointee will be expected to work closely with the knee lead to support the Major Revision Knee Network for Thames Valley as well helping the Bone Infection Unit in the multidisciplinary team management of patients with prosthetic joint infections around the knee joint. The appointee will be expected to participate in the on-call rota and may be required to work on any other site as required by the OUH Trust in the future.
The post holder will provide full consultant in-patient, outpatient and pre-assessment care based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. The successful applicant will work closely with the existing Hip and Knee Consultants. The clinical team is supported by both resident doctors (specialist, core and foundation levels) and post-CCT fellows; team based at the NOC.
In addition to the elective workload, the successful applicant will contribute to the elective orthopaedic on-call rota (1 in 8). Clinical duties include in-patient and out-patient care and management and administrative duties associated with this. In-patient care of both planned and emergency patients will comprise of ward rounds, operating lists and pre-assessment clinics. These may be performed independently or in conjunction with the Multi-disciplinary Team. As part of this the post-holder will be required to attend a joint replacement infection MDT meeting and contribute to the Bone Infection Unit clinic in order to help with management of patients with knee prosthetic joint infection. The postholder will also be expected to attend the regional revision knee meeting. A commitment to audit and teaching will be included. The postholder will be expected as part of their SPA time to take on a clinical improvement role for the TOR directorate.
