About the role
We are on a journey in Bury and doing things differently. We consider that Team Managers are an important part of our journey, and we promise to develop your skills and support your learning. We understand that this is one of the most challenging and rewarding roles in Social Work.
We want the best talent in Bury and need practitioners who will help influence the services we are developing for children with disabilities. We want to help you to grow and develop confident practitioners and teams, to be the best you can be.
We are one of the first Authorities in the North-West to be pioneering the Hertfordshire Family Safeguarding Model of working with families and training will be provided to learn new skills within our Model of practice.
Within Children with Disabilities and Family Safeguarding teams, we use motivational interviewing and a multi-agency approach, where Social Workers, Family Support Workers, Domestic Abuse Practitioners, Recovery Workers, Mental Health Practitioners, and Psychologists collaborate closely to support families to find their own solutions effectively, reducing the need for referrals to other agencies and improving outcomes for families. You will have access to these resources as part of the children with disability service, where there are additional safeguarding concerns for families.
At the heart of everything we do are the children and young people of Bury. We want staff who can form trusted relationships, working with the strengths in families and building on those assets, always looking for solutions to support families to live together safely and for children and young people to thrive.
Working collectively, we prioritise support, training and development to within child centred practice. If you are enthusiastic about improving the lives and opportunities for children, young people and their families and want to work and develop your practice, then we want to hear from you!
We want to invest in you, and we have a clear vision around succession planning for our most talented workers. You will have the support and opportunities to progress your journey in Social Work.
As a Team Manager you will lead a team comprising of an Assistant Team Manager and 6 Social Workers, including an EHCP Social Worker. The team also has 4 Family Support Workers who complete direct work and undertake Short Break Reviews.
We are looking for a Team Manager with experience of working with children with disabilities and a good knowledge of complex case management. You will have oversight of children and young people who are subject to child in need and child protection planning, who are subject to pre-proceedings, private law and public proceedings. The team also undertakes capacity assessments and manage cases with applications in relation to Deprivation of Liberty. Experience would be required in relation to Mental Capacity Act 2005 alongside robust knowledge of the Children Act 1989.
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week.
