Summary
Newent Community School are seeking a proactive and highly practical Site Manager to join our team at Newent Community School and Sixth Form Centre. Working in conjunction with the Site Services Manager, Headteacher and Business Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented learning environment. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical skills, where you will actively contribute to the day-to-day maintenance, repair and improvement of the school site while supporting the leadership of the site services and cleaning teams.

This is a position which comes with a great deal of trust and responsibility. You will be directly line managed by the Headteacher and Business Manager, reflecting the central importance of this role within our school community.
Key responsibilities include:
• Carry out hands-on maintenance and repairs across the school site, using practical trade skills to resolve day-to-day issues.
• Support delivery of a planned preventative maintenance programme, working in conjunction with the Site Services Manager.
• Undertake and manage Health & Safety compliance checks (e.g. fire alarms, emergency lighting, water safety) and maintain accurate records.
• Assist in maintaining site security, acting as a keyholder and responding to emergencies when required.
• Work alongside and support the Site Services and cleaning teams, helping allocate tasks and maintain high standards.
• Support contractors, small projects, and general site operations, including grounds upkeep and event setup.

We are seeking someone who is: • Strong practical trade background or hands-on maintenance skills (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, decorating, general building maintenance) • Proven ability to carry out repairs, fault-finding, and general site maintenance independently • Experience working in a site, facilities, or building maintenance environment • Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices • Ability to work proactively and respond to issues quickly, including emergencies • Experience working as part of a team, with the ability to support and guide others • Good organisational skills and ability to manage a varied workload
Experience in a multi trade environment is desirable, but more important is your attitude, professionalism and desire to be committed to the improvement of our school.
