Summary
Job description Main Duties of the Job The Practice Nurse will work within their professional competence to provide safe, effective and patient centred care. Clinical duties Provide routine nursing care to patients of all ages Carry out cervical screening in line with national guidance Administer immunisations and vaccinations according to national schedules. Provide wound care including dressings, suture and clip removal Undertake venepuncture, blood pressure monitoring and ECG recordings Support the management of long term conditions including asthma, COPD, diabetes. Provide contraceptive injections and advice where trained Identify safeguarding concerns and escalate appropriately Patient care Deliver compassionate, patient centred care Maintain accurate clinical records Maintain patient confidentiality at all times Support patients to understand and manage their health needs Work in accordance with the NMC Code Maintain professional registration and revalidation Participate in clinical supervision and annual appraisal Undertake continuing professional development Work within own competence and seek support when required Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, HCAs and wider practice team Participate in team meetings where required Support training of colleagues where appropriate Contribute to service development and improvement Quality and governance Follow infection prevention and control procedures Ensure safe use of clinical equipment Report incidents and significant events in line with practice policy Contribute to audit and quality improvement work Support achievement of QOF targets where appropriateQualificationsEssential Registered Nurse with current NMC registration Evidence of continuing professional development Willingness to undertake trainingDesirable Practice Nurse experience.
