Marketplace is a growing online venture for Tesco, offering customers the ability to shop a wide range of third‑party products alongside the groceries they already know and love. This role sits at the heart of an exciting journey, working as part of a collaborative, high‑performing team that helps deliver our promise to serve customers, communities and the planet a little better every day.
The role is responsible for driving high‑volume seller recruitment for Marketplace, ensuring sellers are effectively recruited, qualified and progressed through the pipeline at pace and scale. You will be accountable for day‑to‑day execution, pipeline performance and the continuous improvement of seller recruitment processes, supporting Marketplace growth through strong velocity, conversion and an excellent seller experience.
You will be responsible for
Seller Recruitment & Conversion at Scale
- Owning the end‑to‑end recruitment of high volumes of third‑party sellers, progressing them from initial engagement through to contract and onboarding handover.
- Delivering against agreed seller recruitment and conversion targets by managing a high‑throughput pipeline.
- Applying clear qualification criteria to ensure sellers meet Marketplace standards for credibility, range fit and operational readiness.
- Using structured engagement approaches (such as campaigns, webinars and automated journeys) to drive efficient seller conversion at scale.
Pipeline Ownership & CRM Discipline
- Taking ownership of the seller recruitment pipeline within CRM systems (e.g. HubSpot).
- Ensuring sellers are accurately staged, prioritised and progressed in line with defined SLAs.
- Monitoring pipeline health, identifying drop‑off points and taking action to improve speed and conversion.
- Producing regular reporting and insights to inform forecasting and support decision‑making.
Process Improvement & Ways of Working
- Playing a key role in embedding scalable, repeatable seller recruitment processes across the team.
- Identifying friction, inefficiencies or capacity constraints within the seller journey and proposing practical, data‑led improvements.
- Supporting the testing and rollout of new tools, automation or process enhancements to improve seller experience and team efficiency.
- Balancing pace with quality, ensuring Marketplace standards are upheld even at high volume.
Stakeholder & Team Collaboration
- Working closely with onboarding, operations, legal, technology and offshore teams to ensure smooth handover and progression of sellers.
- Acting as a point of escalation for more complex seller cases within the recruitment journey.
- Supporting and coaching WL1 / executive roles, providing guidance on pipeline management and seller engagement best practice.
- Contributing to wider Marketplace initiatives where seller recruitment input and expertise are required.
You will need
Essential
- Proven experience in seller acquisition, business development, or high‑volume recruitment roles.
- Strong capability to manage large pipelines and engage with multiple sellers concurrently.
- Experience working in process‑driven, target‑led environments, maintaining pace and quality.
- Confidence using CRM systems and data to prioritise activity, track performance and drive outcomes.
- Clear and concise communication skills, with a structured and pragmatic approach to problem‑solving.
Desirable
- Experience working within a marketplace, platform or scaled digital business.
- Exposure to automation, webinar‑led recruitment, or lifecycle‑based engagement approaches.
- Experience collaborating with offshore or geographically distributed teams.
- An understanding of seller onboarding, compliance requirements or contract processes.
