Summary

Join Our Specialist MSK Physiotherapy Team

We are excited to offer an opportunity for two experienced physiotherapists to join the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust MSK Physiotherapy Service. These roles are primarily based at our Basildon site, with the flexibility to support other locations across the Trust as service needs evolve.

You will be an accomplished clinician with advanced musculoskeletal expertise, combining excellent acute MSK and hand therapy skills with a truly holistic, patient-centred approach that reflects the core values of MSE Hospitals. You will assess and treat patients with complex MSK conditions, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care within a supportive and collaborative environment.

This is also an opportunity to make a wider impact. You will bring experience in team leadership, service development and project management, working confidently within a multidisciplinary setting. As a senior role model within the department, you will collaborate closely with Clinical and Operational Managers, contributing to workforce planning, service innovation and the ongoing development of our MSK pathway.

If you are passionate about clinical excellence, leadership and shaping future MSK services within the NHS, we would love to hear from you.

Assess, diagnose and treat patients with a range of musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions within a busy outpatient physiotherapy service.

Manage a varied clinical caseload of MSK patients, ensuring safe, effective and evidence‑based care.

Receive and manage referrals from Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons, trauma pathways and directly from orthopaedic wards.

Triage referrals to ensure patients are directed to the most appropriate pathway for their clinical needs.

Request appropriate imaging investigations, including X‑rays and scans, in line with clinical indications and scope of practice.

Review and interpret investigation results, escalating findings to senior clinicians or medical staff where required.

Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with Trust policies and professional standards.

Actively participate in the supervision and support of junior staff and students.

Contribute to in‑service training, peer learning and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Support service development and quality improvement within the outpatient physiotherapy department.

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well-being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.

We look forward to your application!

Please be aware that we reserve the right to close the vacancy early should a high number of applications be received.
