Summary
Start your career in inpatient therapies with our Cardiothoracic team
The Cardiothoracic Therapy Team at Basildon Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 2 Therapy Assistant to join our supportive and friendly team. If you’re looking for a meaningful opportunity to begin a career in hospital-based therapy services, this could be the perfect role for you.
You will work alongside experienced Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, helping to deliver high‑quality care to patients undergoing cardiac or thoracic surgery, as well as those recovering from cardiac events. This is a varied and hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in supporting patients on their recovery journey.
Alongside clinical support, you will assist with the smooth day-to-day running of the department, including equipment cleaning and maintenance, stock management and the collation of statistical information. Every task you undertake will directly contribute to patient safety, service efficiency and team success.
We are looking for someone who is caring, reliable and keen to learn, with a positive approach to teamwork and patient care. In return, we offer valuable experience within a specialist service, excellent support and the chance to develop skills that can open doors to future therapy roles.
If you’re ready to take your first step into inpatient therapies, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today.
You will be responsible for the safe use of physiotherapy and occupational therapy equipment and aids by patients in your care and to ensure that the necessary equipment is available in the appropriate places.
You will carry out procedures in which you have been trained and are responsible for adhering to service standards for your own practice. A more senior member of staff on a regular basis will supervise your work.
You will provide and organise the collection of relevant statistical information both mandatory and at the request of the Acute Therapy Lead and senior physiotherapy and occupational therapy staff.
You will assist in identifying opportunities to improve the physiotherapy and occupational therapy service in order to provide the best patient care within the resources available.
Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well-being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.
We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
