Summary
As a Nuclear Medicine Clinical Scientist based at our teaching hospital in Norwich, you will play a central role in delivering high‑quality diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine services that directly improve patient care. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will apply your scientific expertise to ensure the safe, effective, and innovative use of radioactive materials and advanced imaging technologies.
You will contribute to the optimisation of imaging protocols on 3 of our SPECT/CT imaging systems and for our independently owned PET/CT camera, undertake complex data analysis in such areas as kidney GFR evaluation, support the delivery of radionuclide therapies, and ensure compliance with radiation safety legislation.

Clinical & Scientific Practice
• Support the delivery of diagnostic nuclear medicine imaging and radionuclide therapy services.
• Optimise imaging protocols and undertake quantitative image analysis.
• Perform and oversee quality control of imaging equipment and radiopharmaceuticals.
• Provide scientific advice to clinicians, radiographers, and technologists.
☢️ Radiation Safety & Governance
• Ensure compliance with IRR17, IRMER17, and local radiation safety policies.
• Contribute to risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
• Support the Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) and Medical Physics Expert (MPE) functions as appropriate.
Service Development & Research
• Participate in research, innovation, and evaluation of new technologies or techniques.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of new clinical protocols.
• Support departmental teaching and training for trainees, technologists, and students.
Operational & Professional Duties
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with departmental and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in departmental meetings, CPD activities, and professional networks.
• Contribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and patient‑focused working environment.

Successful candidates who have either completed a structured training programme or are on their way to completion may be appointed within the Annex 21 category and supported to progress to Band 7 once competencies, experience, and HCPC registration requirements are met.
