Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Planner to support a major rail infrastructure programme at Interchange Station, Birmingham. Working on behalf of a leading consultancy client, this role will play a key part in the successful planning and delivery of complex civil engineering works associated with station and rail infrastructure development.
This is a contract opportunity requiring on-site presence three days per week in Birmingham, working within the IR35 framework. Remainder of the week working from home.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules using industry-standard planning tools (e.g. Primavera P6).
Produce integrated project programmes covering all stages of civil engineering and rail infrastructure works.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and delivery teams to ensure programme alignment with project milestones and objectives.
Identify critical path activities, risks, and opportunities within the programme and implement mitigation strategies.
Provide progress reporting, schedule analysis, and forecasting to key project stakeholders.
Support change management processes including programme updates resulting from scope changes.
Ensure planning outputs meet client, regulatory, and industry standards.
Contribute to project planning workshops, coordination meetings, and programme reviews.
Key Requirements
Extensive experience as a Senior Planner within large-scale civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of construction planning methodologies and programme management.
Proven experience using Primavera P6 or similar planning software.
Experience working on rail or station infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, construction methodologies, and contract requirements.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Experience working within consultancy or client-side environments is advantageous.
