Summary

Construction Group Tutor | Job Overview

Location: R.E.A.L. Alternative Provision, Mansfield

Salary: £15.37 per hour / £27,066 per annum

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time, Term Time (41 weeks/year)

This role is a fantastic fit for someone who prefers the workshop to the traditional classroom. You'll be working with young people who often find mainstream education challenging, helping them build practical skills and confidence through hands-on projects.

Key Responsibilities

As a Construction Group Tutor, your day-to-day will involve more than just teaching trades; you'll be a mentor and an innovator.

  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach bricklaying, joinery, painting, and general construction skills.

  • Adaptive Learning: Tailor lessons for 1:1 sessions or small groups to meet specific student needs (SEND).

  • Documentation: Handle lesson planning, progress reporting, and student assessments.

  • Safety & Advocacy: Maintain strict Health & Safety standards in the workshop while advocating for the students' social and emotional growth.

What You Need to Qualify

The requirements for this role focus heavily on a mix of technical ability and "people skills."

Requirement Details
Qualifications Minimum Level 1 in a construction-related discipline.
Experience Working with children, youth, or vulnerable adults (ideally with additional needs).
Tech Skills Confidence using ICT, specifically Google Applications.
Mobility Full UK driving licence, a roadworthy vehicle, and business insurance.
Soft Skills Creativity, resilience, and a "think-outside-the-box" approach to engagement.
Why This Role is Unique

This school moves away from the "one size fits all" model. You aren't just following a rigid textbook; you are expected to innovate and adapt the curriculum to spark interest in learners who may have previously disengaged from school.

Note: This is a Term Time Only position (41 weeks), which is ideal if you value having school holidays off while maintaining a permanent contract.
