Summary
Please read attached for the full Job Description Main Duties and Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors at reception in a courteous and professional manner. Answer incoming telephone calls, deal with enquiries and take accurate messages. Book, amend and cancel appointments using the practice clinical system (EMIS). Signpost patients to the most appropriate clinician or service (e.g. GP, nurse practitioner, pharmacist, NHS 111). Register new patients and process temporary registrations. Handle repeat prescription requests in line with practice procedures. Scan, file and process incoming correspondence and patient documents. Update patient records accurately, including contact details and demographic changes. Liaise with GPs, nurses, hospitals, community teams and other external healthcare providers. Process referrals, forms and other administrative tasks as required. Maintain a tidy, safe and welcoming reception and waiting area. Follow practice policies and procedures, including safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection (GDPR). Respond calmly and professionally to complaints, difficult situations or distressed patients, escalating where appropriate.
