Summary

The role
A vacancy has become available for a plant operator to join the waste disposal team at the waste transfer station and be part of our journey on the road to greatness.
We are looking for someone who can be an essential part of the team and operate a range of plant within the transfer station. The successful candidate will also assist with other daily operations across the site.
You
Will be an integral part of ‘Team ‘SWISCo’ by ensuring the recycling and waste collected from across Torbay is managed effectively and prepared for onward transport.
The team you work within will be responsible to keeping the transfer station clean and tidy, working to schedules whilst also being able to respond to the operational needs of a busy environment.

Key Duties:
• Operating plant and machinery, such as forklifts, loading shovel and telehandlers to load and unload recycling and waste
• Keeping the transfer station, equipment and plant clean and tidy
• Helping customers to dispose of recycling and waste in the correct areas
• Preventative maintenance tasks
Essential Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications for initial shortlisting:
Skills and Effectiveness
• Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team, to include those from other teams and service areas.
• Effective ability to meet targets and demand, to include conflicting deadlines
• Ability to take direction and work in an inclusive manner

Knowledge
• Effective knowledge of Health & Safety processes.
• Effective knowledge of how to operate plant and machinery such as forklift truck, loading shovel and material handler.
Experience
• Able to demonstrate and in-still trust to staff members at all levels, clients/customers, and the general public.
• Previous experience of operating plant and machinery such as forklift truck loading shovel and material handler
Qualifications
• Hold relevant plant and/or machinery operator licence, such as loading shovel and material handler
• Driving Licence
