Up to £125 per day | Long Term Role
We are recruiting a committed and adaptable Pastoral Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join a large secondary school in Hackney, supporting students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
This is a varied role combining pastoral support and classroom-based learning support, ideal for someone confident working with students who require additional support with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), behaviour and special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with SEMH, behaviour and SEN needs
- Support pupils both in lessons and during unstructured times
- Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management
- Implement behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
- Work closely with pastoral teams, SEN staff and Heads of Year
- Promote engagement, inclusion and positive behaviour
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience supporting students with SEMH, behaviour or SEN needs
- Confidence working in a secondary school environment
- A calm, resilient and consistent approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice
- Background in mentoring, youth work or education (desirable)
