Summary
About the Role
We are seeking highly experienced and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to join Joseph Clarke School on a long-term basis. This role involves providing consistent, tailored support to pupils with special educational needs, with a strong focus on visual impairment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEN, ensuring access to learning and development
Support students with visual impairments, including the use of Braille where required
Work closely with teachers and specialist staff to deliver individualized learning plans
Promote independence, confidence, and engagement in the classroom
Adapt materials and resources to meet students’ sensory and learning needs
Maintain a consistent, reliable presence to support pupil progress and wellbeing.
Essential Requirements:
Strong and proven experience working with SEN pupils (essential)
Experience supporting children with visual impairments (highly desirable)
Familiarity with Braille or willingness to learn
Patient, resilient, and committed to long-term support roles
Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
