Summary

About the role:
We are seeking a student who is currently studying for a BSc (HONS) or MSc in Environmental Health, to join our Environmental Health - Commercial Team this summer (2026) for up to, a 3 month placement.
You will gain experience, in protecting public health and making a positive impact on both Powys residents and visitors. Knowledge will be gained in relevant legislation, codes of practice and guidance, ensuring that the council undertakes and meets all relevant and associated obligations within Food Safety, Health & Safety, Communicable Disease Control and Special Procedures.
About you:
• Good organisational skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively manage own workload
• The ability to work to deadlines and to manage competing deadlines
• Able to work effectively as part of a team and as an individual
• An ability to work flexibly because of travel requirements
• Reliability in terms of time-keeping
• Willing to acquire and develop new skills and to work towards professional registration
What you will do:
You will assist in the effective and efficient operation of the Commercial Section within the policies, procedures and objectives of the Council, and gain skills and experience to enhance your current studies and the achievement of a professional qualification.
