What You'll Be Doing At Mitie, we're proud to have over 5,000 technical services engineering colleagues delivering excellence across the UK. The role will be based at Mitie on the Sandwell Schools contract. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with strong practical abilities, particularly in DIY, maintenance, and the repair or restoration of items. This apprenticeship provides an excellent opportunity to develop hands-on technical skills within a professional facilities environment, supporting both personal growth and long-term career development.
As an Apprentice Property Maintenance Operative, you'll play a key role in maintaining safe, functional, and welcoming environments across our school sites. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same.
Your responsibilities will include:
Developing core skills to carry out routine maintenance and minor planned and reactive repairsUsing a broad range of trade skills including carpentry, joinery, basic plumbing, plastering, brickwork, and decoratingSupporting general site maintenance across school environmentsWorking alongside experienced colleagues to build practical, on-the-job knowledgeEnsuring compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) standards at all times
As part of your Apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto a Property Maintenance Operative Level 2 qualification which normally runs for 18 months. You will be fully supported by our partnered training provider, GLP Training, to achieve this qualification by having 1-2-1 advice and support, e-learning materials, and a whole team of experts on hand for advice. As part of your training, you will attend GLP Training Centre's in Worcester every 3 months for 2-3 days. All travel expenses and accommodation will be covered for you to attend this training.

To succeed as a Mitie apprentice, you'll need:
-A keen interest in your chosen field.
-The ability to think critically and find solutions.
-Dedication to completing your apprenticeship and growing with Mitie.
-GCSEs in Maths and English (Grades 4-9 or equivalent) or Scottish National 5 certificates (Grade A-C).
-Certificates must be provided at the interview stage.
No prior experience? No problem! If you're enthusiastic and ready to learn, we'll give you all the tools you need to succeed.
