Summary


Service Manager – Emergency Department (ED) & Acute Medicine (Band 7)

The Emergency Department (ED) & Acute Medicine Directorate is a cross-site service operating acrossWexham Park Hospital, SloughandFrimley Park Hospital, Surrey.The Service Manager role sits within the operational structure of the directorate, which is led by the Associate Director, and reports directly to the Operations Manager.

We are seeking a motivated, dynamic, and experienced individual to join the ED & Acute Medicine operational and clinical leadership team. The post holder will work closely with multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality patient care across both hospital sites.

The Service Manager will maintain a highly visible and credible presence throughout the directorate and act as a key point of contact for the departments. They will be responsible for promoting excellent standards of patient care and communication, ensuring a positive patient experience. Working collaboratively with clinical and operational colleagues, the post holder will support the achievement of national and local performance targets and contribute to continuous service improvement.


The post holder will provide a highly visible and credible presence across the directorate. They will ensure that high standards of patient care and communication are provided to all patients.

The post holder will ensure that:
• All patients are treated with dignity and respect
• The patient experience is optimised through an efficient and effective service that encompasses the national and Trust agenda.
• All staff work and will use best practice in infection control and prevention.
• Develop services to meet the Trust’s service and operational objectives
• Be responsible for delivering directorate inpatient and outpatient waiting list targets

The post holder will be responsible in ensuring that resources are used effectively and efficiently and work with the staff, leading and coaching them to maximise their potential in support of their future career options.

The post holder in conjunction with the operations manager and head of nursing will ensure that patient safety is maintained to the highest level.

The post holder will deputise for the operations manager as required.
