Summary

We are looking for a highly organised HR Adviser with strong communication skills.

As part of the Families First Partnership Programme, this role will give the opportunity to work with our Children’s Social Care team on the planning and implementation of this grant funded transformational programme. As this role will be dedicated to supporting the programme, it is initially for a 12-month fixed term contract or internal secondment, however this may be extended as necessary (potentially to two years).

At Bracknell Forest, we pride ourselves on being a council which is stable and well-managed where our employees can thrive in a supportive environment. We understand the importance of a healthy work-life balance and offer a variety of flexible working practices, including options for remote working and arrangements that allow you to work from home, dependent on the needs of the service.

Any successful internal candidate will be offered the position as a secondment and, in line with Section 8.1 of the Secondment Policy, must consult with their manager before applying. Search ‘secondment policy’ on the intranet for more information

About you...
As an HR Adviser, it is essential you have the ability to work confidentially and autonomously across multiple project tasks.

To succeed in this role, you will have a professional, flexible attitude with a "can-do" approach and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. In addition, you will have the ability to build strong working relationships across council teams and within the council’s HR department.

You will be qualified to CIPD Level 5 or equivalent.

About the team...
You will be based at our Time Square offices and whilst you will be part of the wider HR team you will need to be able to use your own initiative to manage competing project priorities. As well as receiving direct management support and supervision from the HR Manager, you will also be an active member of the ring-fenced Families First Partnership Programme team.

We are a small, welcoming and friendly local authority. We are proud of our connected and inclusive culture, with a strong focus on wellbeing, which provides our workforce with a strong sense of belonging.

Our leadership team is visible, available and approachable.

Key responsibilities...
Acting as an HR expert, supporting organisational change activity relating to the implementation of a transformational programme. This will include providing advice on Employment Law and may include activities including:
consultation and implementation planning
redundancy/redeployment guidance
TUPE/contractual change advice
liaising with payroll, pensions and trade unions as required.
Leading on job planning and job description/person specification content, supporting managers within the programme to create accurate role descriptors, contribute to job evaluation/job matching and participate in recruitment activities.
Advise senior council leaders and the programme team on employment law, national and local conditions of service, and council HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistent application, appropriate documentation and confidentiality.
