Summary
Central Recruitment is working with a prominent national homelessness charity, whose work includes supporting and accommodating young people.
Our client is currently recruiting for a Service Manager to work in the Durham area at a service which provides a range of support to young people at risk of homelessness.
• 37.5 hours per week
• Monday - Friday, between the hours of 8AM - 8PM
• Usual working hours: 9AM - 5PM
• Temporary: approx. 3 months
• £20.28 per hour (£17.63 per hour, with £2.65 holiday pay)
Please note: you will be based across two accommodation sites which have 5 units each, and 7 outreach flats.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage a team of Progression Coaches, Night Coaches, and Outreach Workers
• Build and maintain relationships with commissioners, stakeholders, and partner organisations
• Ensure building safety through risk assessments, health and safety checks, and reporting
• Liaise with internal departments to support effective service delivery
• Monitor and manage budgets in collaboration with finance leadership
• Deliver high standards of support for young people and effective housing management, meeting KPIs
• Apply Acceptance and Commitment Therapy principles to support clients’ development and goals
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and quality standards, including Ofsted requirements
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
• Experience leading teams, setting goals, and driving continuous service improvement
• Committed to developing and motivating staff through mentoring, coaching, and feedback
• Strong analytical skills to assess complex situations, manage risks, and implement solutions
• Excellent communication with diverse stakeholders, including clients and external partners
• Proven ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships
• Data-driven decision-making using reports and KPIs
FURTHER REQUIREMENTS:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Current valid right to work in the UK
• Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
• A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
• Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
