Summary

History Teacher – Flexible short-term and long-term opportunities available immediately


These flexible opportunities are ideal for History Teachers who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different secondary school settings. You will be supporting pupils in Watford and the surrounding areas, delivering engaging and high‑quality History lessons across a range of year groups.

Duties as History Teacher:

  • Deliver engaging and well‑structured History lessons using provided plans
  • Teach a range of historical topics in line with the national curriculum
  • Encourage critical thinking, discussion, and analytical writing skills
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of mixed‑ability learners
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
  • Assess and record pupil progress where required
  • Contribute to departmental planning during longer‑term placements
  • Promote curiosity, historical enquiry, and independent learning

Ideal History Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Strong subject knowledge across the History curriculum
  • Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to motivate and engage pupils across different key stages
  • Adaptable across varied school environments
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
