Overview
Charnwood Borough Council is recruiting three skilled Maintenance Joiners to support its Voids and Responsive Repairs service. You’ll carry out high‑quality joinery and multi‑trade repairs across council homes, ensuring safe, compliant, customer‑focused service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Complete a wide range of joinery repairs, replacements and upgrade works.

Work flexibly across trades during peaks in demand.

Deliver repairs to a high standard, on time and in line with Building Regulations and H&S requirements.

Liaise with tenants, provide excellent customer service and maintain safe working environments.

Record all job details, variations, materials and follow‑on works via PDA.

Identify remedial actions and specify correct materials.

Support voids, responsive repairs, gas servicing, compliance and planned works.

Maintain tools, equipment and vehicles; follow all safety procedures.

Assist colleagues, supervise apprentices and attend training/toolbox talks.

Participate in out‑of‑hours call‑out rota when required.

Requirements
NVQ Level 2 / City & Guilds in Joinery (or equivalent) OR strong demonstrable experience.

Time‑served apprenticeship with substantial post‑qualification experience.

Ability to deliver competent, safe joinery work to recognised standards.

Experience in social housing repairs (voids and responsive).

Knowledge of H&S legislation; able to work at heights and use ladders/towers.

Ability to use PDAs and follow job‑logging processes.

Strong customer service skills and awareness of safeguarding.

Full UK driving licence.

Flexible, reliable, able to work under pressure and use own initiative.

Multi‑skilled ability in another trade (desirable).

Tiling experience (desirable).
