Summary
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
To promote the practice to ensure a consistent growth in list size.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
To provide point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, Doctors and other members of the Primary Health Care Team.
It is expected that you will conduct yourself with tact, sympathy, and efficiency and remain pleasant at all times.
Particular attention is drawn to the confidential nature of this post. All patients’ diagnosis and treatments must be held in the STRICTEST CONFIDENCE at all times.
Administration
• To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
• To work in accordance of written protocols
• Scanning of post into medical records
• Read coding of post
• Fax and photocopy as requested
• Typing of referral letters.
• Data input of all relevant information using read codes
• General use of the intranet, email, word applications excel spreadsheets, and publisher.
• Input hospital letters using relevant read codes onto the clinical system, linking to problems and chronic disease registers if appropriate.
• Implementation of the Choose and book system for all referrals
• Scanning of hospital correspondence using the docman software
• Ensure all electronic and paper medical records are accurately assembled, retrieve and re file records as required, and ensuring strict alphabetical order is adhered to.
Reception
• Receiving patients consulting with members of practice team
• Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
• Be able to cover all reception position as necessary
