About Talawa Theatre Company
Founded in 1986 by Black artists and activists Yvonne Brewster OBE, Mona Hammond OBE, Carmen Munroe OBE and Inigo Espejel, Talawa was created to address the lack of opportunities for Black actors on British stages.
The vision was to diversify the theatre industry; making it fully representative of the UK’s population. This vision is as relevant today as it was at the start.
Talawa is the only Black British theatre company that presents the traditional canon of British theatre alongside international work and new plays, with over 80 productions to our name.
Talawa’s work has encompassed the works of William Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, Arthur Miller and Samuel Beckett alongside African and Caribbean classics and new plays by Black British writers such as Roy Williams, Malorie Blackman and Michaela Coel.
Talawa has been a standard bearer for bold new writing that holds a mirror up to society, telling contemporary stories that acknowledge the breadth of lived experiences for people of Black African and Caribbean heritage and diaspora.

About the role
We are looking for a highly organised and motivated Development Co‑ordinator to support the delivery of Talawa’s fundraising strategy and 40th anniversary programme.
This role plays a vital part within the Development team, providing administrative, coordination and research support across a range of fundraising activity. Working closely with the Head of Development, you will help maintain strong relationships with individual supporters, trusts, foundations and corporate partners, while ensuring accurate data management and effective reporting.

Key responsibilities
Maintain and update fundraising data using CRM systems (Salesforce and Fundraise Up), ensuring accuracy and GDPR compliance
Act as a first point of contact for supporter enquiries via phone, email and website
Support stewardship of individual supporters, including acknowledgements and donor care
Coordinate supporter events, cultivation activity and annual appeals - this includes managing events RSVPs, guest lists, general event correspondences and enquiries.
Assist with research into trusts, foundations and major donor prospects for briefings
Assist with track funding applications, outcomes and reporting deadlines
Contribute to funding applications through research, proofreading and data collation
Administer online donations and ensure donor crediting is accurate across platforms
Support reporting requirements to Arts Council England and other funders
Attend performances, events and relevant industry networking when required
About you

Essential
Strong administrative, numeracy and data entry skills
Experience using databases or CRMs (or ability to learn quickly)
Experience in conducting research from various sources
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Confident written and verbal communication
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
Maintain confidentiality in all areas relating to Talawa Theatre Company
Interest in the arts, culture and Talawa’s mission
Desirable
Some experience of fundraising or supporter administration
Knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM systems
Interest in theatre
You will be comfortable working independently, managing multiple tasks, and collaborating across teams. Some evening or weekend work may be required (with time off in lieu).
Terms
Hours: 24 hours per week, worked over 3 days (Tuesday–Thursday)
Location: Fairfield Halls, Croydon with hybrid working
Salary: £26,000 - 28,000 per annum pro rota
Contract type: Part-time, fixed term

Probation: Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a 3-month probation.
Notice period: 4 weeks’ notice by either party until successful completion of probation. On successful completion of probation period 2 month notice by either party.
