About the Role
Redbridge Council is seeking an AR/Income Officer to support the Income & Accounts Receivable Team. The role focuses on providing a proactive, customer‑focused service to care‑experienced young people, ensuring their housing‑related income, benefits and rent accounts are managed effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Manage Universal Credit Housing Element sign‑ups for semi‑independent accommodation
Advise young people on rent responsibilities, benefits and tenancy obligations
Ensure Housing Benefit/UC claims are in place and maintained
Create and manage rent accounts on the Cx housing system
Liaise between Housing Benefit, Universal Credit, Leaving Care and Housing teams
Attend multi‑agency meetings, panels and professional discussions
Support invoicing, debt collection and case preparation for court where required
Maintain accurate records, reports and assessments in line with council procedures
Provide advice to clients via phone, in person, outreach or written communication
About You
Experience providing advice to the public in a frontline environment
Strong knowledge of housing legislation, homelessness law and welfare benefits
Confident working with vulnerable young people and those with complex needs
Skilled in interviews, investigations, negotiation and case management
Able to work to targets, deadlines and performance standards
Strong partnership working with statutory, voluntary and housing organisations
Additional Information
Hybrid role – 3 days per week office‑based
Includes visits to young people
Must adhere to council standards on safeguarding, data protection and customer care
