About the Role
Lambeth Council is seeking an experienced PRS Lettings Negotiator to join the Accommodation Services team within Housing Needs. You’ll lead on securing private rented properties at affordable levels to support homelessness prevention, relief cases, move‑on from supported housing, and households leaving temporary accommodation.

This is a key frontline role requiring strong negotiation skills, excellent relationship‑building with landlords, and the ability to support residents into sustainable PRS tenancies.

Key Responsibilities
Secure private rented accommodation through direct negotiation with landlords and agents.

Operate a proactive property‑finding service using leads, landlord networks, online platforms and cold calling.

Advise landlords on responsibilities, available support, and property standards.

Inspect properties, identify hazards, assess suitability and produce inspection reports.

Match prospective tenants to suitable PRS properties based on needs and affordability.

Conduct accompanied viewings and provide expert advice to tenants and landlords.

Support tenants with Universal Credit/Housing Benefit applications and direct rent payments.

Work closely with Housing Advisors and colleagues across Housing Needs.

Promote Lambeth’s Private Renting Scheme at forums, events and meetings.

Maintain accurate records and update IT systems in line with procedures.

Respond to member enquiries, draft complaint responses and manage case‑related correspondence.

Ensure compliance with financial regulations, safeguarding, equalities and data protection.

Contribute to service development, reviews and continuous improvement.

About You
We’re looking for someone who brings:

Strong negotiation and influencing skills.

Experience working with landlords, PRS markets or housing services.

Knowledge of property standards, tenancy law and homelessness prevention.

Confidence inspecting properties and identifying health & safety issues.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to support vulnerable residents.

Strong organisational skills and accuracy in record‑keeping.

A proactive, flexible and solution‑focused approach.
