Summary
The Paediatric Asthma Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide expert, evidencebased care to children and young people with asthma, undertaking holistic assessments, managing a specialist caseload, and running nurseled clinics across acute, community, and primary care settings. The role involves developing personalised asthma management plans, supporting selfmanagement education, and ensuring safe prescribing and medication management. The post holder will work collaboratively with families, GPs, schools, and the wider multidisciplinary team to coordinate care, address safeguarding concerns, and promote consistent best practice. They will contribute to service development through quality improvement, audit, data analysis, and implementation of national and local guidelines. In addition, the role includes supporting colleagues through teaching, supervision, and leadership, while maintaining personal professional development and clinical competence. Effective, inclusive communication and accurate documentation are essential, alongside active participation in ICS network meetings, Trust initiatives, and multidisciplinary discussions to enhance asthma outcomes across the region.
