Summary
We are looking for a Practice Accountant to join our team. This is a varied role with exposure to all aspects of general practice, ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with clients and taking ownership of their work.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies (FRS 102 / FRS 105)
Preparation and submission of Self Assessment and Corporation Tax returns
VAT return preparation and compliance
Bookkeeping and management accounts preparation
Liaising directly with clients to provide advice and resolve queries
Supporting clients with cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
Dealing with HMRC correspondence
About You
AAT qualified, or ACA / ACCA part-qualified or qualified (or qualified by experience)
Minimum 2–3 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice
Good working knowledge of UK GAAP, VAT, and tax compliance
Experience preparing accounts for owner-managed businesses
Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills
Familiarity with cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
Able to manage workload and meet deadlines independently
Desirable (but not essential)
Experience with payroll processing
Knowledge of Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements
Experience using software such as IRIS, TaxCalc, or similar
