Summary
As one of the receptionists at Kumon Hillhead, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of the students and supporting the overall operations of the center. Your responsibilities will include signing students in and out, taking payments, answering phone calls and text messages, housekeeping, record keeping and general administrative tasks. This position offers a potential job share arrangement, providing flexibility in scheduling and workload distribution. The class times are currently Wednesday 3.30-6pm, Thursday 3.30-5pm and Saturday 9.30am-2pm. Reception shift will start 15 minutes before class time and often run 10 minutes after class finish time. You will be on a rota with the other receptionists, pairing up for the busier shifts and preferably covering any available shifts. Flexibility on the class days are essential.
We are hoping to find someone who lives locally and looking for permanent work of 1-2 shifts per week.
Responsibilities:
• Sign students in and out of class
• Answer calls and messages on the phone
• Speak to and advise potential new students
• Complete enrolment process for new students
• Ensure smooth running of reception by working quickly and efficiently during busy times
• Swap students homework and allocate to the correct folder
• Take cash and card payments and keep records up to date
• Be available to answer any questions from parents
• Maintain a clean and organized learning environment through regular housekeeping tasks.
• Keep accurate records of student progress and maintain administrative files.
• Utilize basic computer skills to manage center operations and communicate with students and parents.
• Demonstrate excellent people skills and interact effectively with students, parents, and staff members.
• Apply your experience working with children to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
• Exhibit conscientiousness, reliability, and punctuality in all aspects of the job.
• Possess a high level of trustworthiness and maintain confidentiality in handling student information.
• Have a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy in record keeping and administrative tasks.
• Think on your feet and effectively address challenges or unexpected situations.
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
• Exhibit patience and understanding when working with students of varying abilities, learning styles and cultures.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Ability to manage people, including providing guidance and support.
• Ability to handle money and keep records of all transactions
• Experience in maintaining classroom discipline and creating a positive learning atmosphere.
• Possess a valid PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and software for administrative tasks.
• First aid certification is preferred but not required.
• Additional language skills are desirable.
