Contract: Flexible Day-to-Day or Short-Term Assignments

Hours: Approx. 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Pay: Competitive Daily Rates (Paid Weekly)

The Opportunity

Are you a confident, empathetic, and reliable individual looking for a flexible role in education? Randstad Education is seeking Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Crawley.

This is a vital role where you will act as the lead figure in the classroom for pupils aged 11-16. You don't need to be a subject expert-your primary mission is to ensure that students feel safe, encouraged, and engaged with their pre-set work while the regular teacher is absent .

This position is highly versatile and serves as an excellent stepping stone for:

Requirements

  • Education: Minimum 5 GCSEs (Grades 9-4 / A*-C) including English and Maths .

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people is highly desirable .

  • Compliance: Enhanced DBS check required (Randstad can assist with your application) .

  • Qualities: Honesty, adaptability, and the ability to make learning "fun and engaging" .

Key Responsibilities

  • Adaptive Management: Build rapport to "humanize" the classroom experience and manage behavior positively

  • Student Engagement: Use constant encouragement and positive feedback to keep students motivated .

  • Inclusive Support: Identify and "pick up" students who are struggling to help them complete their tasks .

  • Safety & Safeguarding: Maintain a non-judgmental environment and follow strict reporting protocols for any disclosures .
