Summary

SEN Teaching Assistant | Long-Term & Full-Time | Crawley

Location: Crawley, West Sussex

Salary: £85 - £95 per day (Depending on experience)

Contract Type: Long-Term, Full-Time

Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday

Start Date: Immediate / As soon as possible

Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school community in Crawley. This is a long-term role perfect for an educator who takes pride in "anticipating the needs of the classroom" and providing bespoke support for children with diverse learning requirements.

The Role

You will be an essential part of the classroom "engine," working closely with the Class Teacher to ensure a smooth workflow and an inclusive environment. Your daily impact will include:

  • Care Plan Implementation: Understanding and following individual EHCPs and care plans to ensure every child's medical and behavioral needs are met.

  • Proactive Preparation: Preparing sensory resources and lesson materials in advance to help the teacher focus on delivery.

  • Adaptive Communication: Using a "nurturing and soft voice" when needed, or providing firm "incentives" to keep students engaged and motivated.

  • Team Synergy: Working collaboratively with the teaching team, recognizing when to step in or when to "tag-team" with a colleague to best support a child's progress.

  • Predictable Routines: Utilizing visual timetables and "First/Then" structures to help students manage transitions and understand the school day.

What We Are Looking For
  • Experience in SEN: A background in supporting children with autism (ASD), ADHD, or complex learning needs.

  • The "Senior" Mindset: Someone who puts in the "extra effort" to understand the "blind spots" in a child's learning and adapts their approach accordingly.

  • Safeguarding Excellence: A professional who understands the importance of the "No Secrets" rule and follows statutory reporting lines to the DSL.

  • Reliability: A committed individual who can maintain the 8:30 am - 3:30 pm schedule to provide the consistency these children need.

What Randstad Can Offer You
  • Competitive Pay: Paid weekly via PAYE.

  • Professional Growth: Access to our suite of CPD courses, including Team Teach and Safeguarding training.

  • Dedicated Consultant: A local consultant who understands the Crawley market and will support your career journey.

  • Refer-a-Friend: Earn £300 in vouchers for every primary specialist you refer to us!

Safeguarding Requirement

Randstad Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undergo an Enhanced DBS check (or be on the update service) and provide satisfactory professional references.
