Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
Required for 1 September 2026, the Trustees are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and qualified teacher of Biology who is able to teach Science in KS3 and Biology across KS4-5. In addition, the post carries a TLR2b as you will lead the department which has several highly-qualified teachers and a technician. In particular the school requires a leader who is as passionate about developing high-quality teaching as they are about their subject.
The biology department has secured strong outcomes in both KS4 and KS5 in recent years and Biology is a popular option choice in KS5. The department is resourced with a technician who offers strong support to the team of highly qualified teachers.
The role is particularly suitable for a colleague looking to develop their professional career by assuming more responsibility within a high performing context.
What the school offers its staff
The School is committed to excellence in professional development and an extensive well-being programme is in place with many benefits including reduced gym membership at CCCU, event afternoons throughout the year and other benefits offered by BCAT and Kent Rewards.
Commitment to safeguarding
In line with KCSIE 2022 guidance, part of the shortlisting process, the Trust reserves the right to conduct an online search on shortlisted candidates as part of our due diligence and any relevant information found concerning a candidate's suitability to work with children will be discussed at interview stage. Barton Court Grammar School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application via the Disclosure & Barring Service and check against the ISA Barred List for Children.
