Summary
Responsible to: Head of NFTS Scotland
Contract basis: Total of 62 days across the year-long programme, approximately 2.5 days a week during May 2026, which can be worked remotely, then typically 4 days per month, with flexibility on specific days. There will be a week of in-person delivery in June. At interview, a more detailed overview of the programme, including the Training Manager’s expected time commitment (particularly during the initial phase), will be outlined.
Rate: up to £230 per day, dependent on experience
Purpose of the role:
NFTS Scotland is looking for a Training Manager on a freelance/contract basis primarily to support the growth of the NFTS activity across Scotland through managing key aspects of the Facilities Trainee Programme (FTP). The FTP is a year-long training and placement programme, with an initial cohort of four participants (this may increase in subsequent iterations of the programme).

Core duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Facilities Trainee Programme (FTP)
- Work with the Head of NFTS Scotland to plan recruitment, including outreach, an open day, selection workshop and induction training.
- Work with the Head of NFTS Scotland to plan and deliver FTP - supporting trainees through the programme and engaging with industry partners to plan placements and meet the development and training needs of participants.
- Monitor the development and progress of each participant during the placements as they progress through the programme in collaboration with participants’ mentors and supervisors.
- Organise logistics, travel and accommodation for participant activity where required.
- Be the main point of contact with industry and programme partners, managing the ongoing relationships
- Offer effective pastoral care to participants as needs arise, including supporting participants with any issues related to industry placements and ensuring the participants have an inclusive experience throughout the training programme and at the NFTS
- Communicate and liaise regularly with industry partners, collaborating with them to ensure the aims of the programme are met and carrying out placement visits as required
- Support participants in building a portfolio of evidence to help them secure roles within the industry following their time on the programme, and work with industry partners to share future job opportunities.
- Monitor budget and expenditure, reporting to the NFTS management team and external stake holders as required. Keep the Head of NFTS Scotland informed of all relevant programme activities and work closely with the Head of NFTS Scotland to maintain budgetary control.
- Complete all final reporting (narrative and financial) at the end of the programme.
- Provide all relevant data as required by Screen Scotland including tracking and evaluations.
Person Specification
Skills/experience required:
- This post requires someone with solid understanding, knowledge and practical experience of the industry
- Experience of managing and supporting groups of diverse trainees during training and while on placements.
- Experience of designing and delivering new training initiatives
- Highly organised
- Outstanding communication skills (both written and oral) and influencing and interpersonal skills for internal and external audiences
- Comfortable dealing with senior stakeholders
- Clear commitment to working as a team player
- Self-starter who is comfortable managing multiple tasks
- Ability to deliver to deadline and budget
- Commitment to driving diversity within the Film and TV industry
- Ability to engage with industry partners and other departments at the NFTS as collaboration is key to success at the NFTS
