Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Software Engineer to join a growing digital solutions team delivering innovative projects across game development, artificial intelligence, and environmental sustainability.
The role involves contributing to projects that support public sector initiatives in Scotland, including systems for carbon footprint calculation, data-driven decision-making, and AI-enabled applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software applications across multiple domains, including game development and AI systems
- Contribute to the development of environmental and carbon footprint calculation tools
- Support delivery of digital solutions aligned with public sector requirements and standards
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle (requirements, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality and scalable solutions
- Assist in managing and delivering software projects to agreed timelines
Essential Criteria
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in commercial software design, development, and project delivery
- Strong programming skills in one or more modern languages (e.g. Python, Java, JavaScript or similar)
- Experience working within structured development environments (e.g. Agile methodologies)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (essential)
- Demonstrable experience in managing or contributing to software development projects
