Job Description:
The primary purpose of this position is to assist journey level electricians in installing, repairing, and maintaining various electrical systems, controls, and equipment. You will serve in a developmental capacity receiving formal, informal, and/or on-the-job training in the specialty area. You will receive progressively more responsible assignments as experience and training are received. Assignments at this level are designed to provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties at the full performance level.
You will assist electricians by performing the simpler and more routine duties of the electrical trade and working with the journey level electricians as instructed. Under close supervision, you will learn to perform the more advanced work of the electrical trade as a means of developing trade skills and gaining knowledge of the trade. You will use and account for all tools and equipment, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, strippers, drills, soldering irons, and manual or power conduit benders and threaders and you will Prepare or gathers all necessary tools and equipment for projects or assignments

Qualifications and Key skills:
• Entry Level: W-03 - GCSE (Math, English & Science Grades 9-4 A*-C) plus City and Guilds Level 2 in Electrical Installations (i.e. 2365-02).
• Intermediate Level: W-05 - City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installations (2357) plus related experience.
• Fully Qualified: W-06 - City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installations (2357) Plus 18th Edition (BS 7671) plus related experience

• A valid UK category B driving license is required.

2. Ability to follow safety regulations and procedures.
3. Ability to learn technical practices in order to select tools and carry out the electrical work assigned.
4. Ability to learn to use and maintain hand tools such as pliers, wire cutters, strippers, drills, soldering irons, and manual or power conduit benders and threaders.
5. Ability to learn to read and use electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
6. Ability to learn to requisition, receive, and store tools, equipment, and supplies

Conditions of employment
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. This position may also be coded as mission essential.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies. Overtime may be required and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
6. Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Emergency overtime may be required but is not guaranteed.
7. Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth, a Pre-Appointment physical/health screening is required. Appointment may be contingent upon passing a physical examination
8. Employee must successfully obtain and maintain any necessary occupational related training/certificates in accordance with US and UK industry standards, and complete all management directed training.
9. Training plans will be established and monitored by the supervisor and may specify the length of time the employee has to obtain certification(s). Some training may require re-certification on a regular and/or intermittent basis.
