Summary

BBS Recruitment is an independent recruitment agency for the transport and logistics sector, supplying a variety of clients across the UK.

We are currently recruiting an experienced Cleaner to work for our client based in Somerset.

Cleaner Role Purpose:

The Cleaner plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The postholder is responsible for ensuring that all areas—including communal spaces, restrooms, and living areas—are cleaned to a high standard.

This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to health and safety. The Cleaner will also ensure the safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.

Key Responsibilities of Cleaner:

•Carry out general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitising surfaces
•Clean and maintain floors using appropriate equipment and cleaning agents
•Empty waste bins, ensure safe disposal of waste, and prepare bins for collection
•Clean, polish, and maintain furniture, fixtures, and fittings
•Undertake periodic deep cleaning of walls, furniture, and high-touch areas
•Check furniture and equipment for damage and report hazards
•Maintain a clean, organised, and safe cleaning storage area
•Use and store cleaning chemicals safely in line with COSHH regulations
•Display safety signage and ensure safe working environments (e.g., wet floor signs)
•Report faults, breakages, or maintenance issues to the Finance and Data Officer
•Maintain records of cleaning activities and materials as required
•Follow all health and safety and infection control procedures
•Work collaboratively with colleagues and maintain positive interactions with residents and staff

Working Hours: 10 hours per week, 2 hours per day.

Shift times: 8am –10am

Requirements of Cleaner:

•Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high cleaning standards
•Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques, products, and equipment
•Understanding of health and safety procedures, including safe chemical use (COSHH)
•Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
•Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions
•Physical ability to carry out manual tasks (lifting, bending, standing)
•Reliable, responsible, and committed to maintaining a safe environment
