The Role
The Contract Trainer is responsible for the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of all training across the Carlisle Support Services contract at Olympia London. The role ensures that Security Officers, Supervisors and Duty Managers are competent, compliant, and operationally ready to meet contractual and customer requirements. Working closely with operational leadership and the customer, the post holder will embed a structured training and assessment framework that supports performance, professionalism, and continuous improvement, specifically focused on protective security, risk management and security operations. Dotted line into Head of Operational Training.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, implement and maintain a contract-specific training strategy aligned to operational risk and customer needs.
• Develop structured training programmes for Security Officers, Supervisors and Duty Managers.
• Ensure all training aligns with legislative, regulatory, contractual and Carlisle Support Services standards.
• Review and update training content in response to changes in operations, incidents, audits, and feedback.
• Deliver engaging and effective training at all levels using classroom, practical and scenario-based methods.
• Deliver induction, refresher and role-specific training as required.
• Coach and mentor supervisors and managers to support on-the-job development
• Act as a subject matter expert for operational procedures and best practice.
• Design and implement a robust competency assessment and assurance framework.
• Conduct regular training needs analysis and skills gap assessments.
• Review incidents, audits, and performance data to drive improvements in training and capability.
• Maintain accurate and auditable training records in line with Carlisle and client requirements.
• Work closely with Contract Management, operational leaders and the customer to align training priorities.
• Support promotions, succession planning, and performance improvement activity.
• Promote a positive learning and development culture across the contract.
• 100% of deployed staff trained and assessed as competent for their role.
• 95%+ compliance rate across training and competency audits.
• All new starters fully inducted and role-competent prior to deployment.
• Measurable improvement in operational performance linked to training outcomes.
• Reduction in training-related incidents, errors, or non-compliance.
• Positive feedback from operational management and the customer on training quality and relevance.
Skills & Experience
Essential
• Proven experience in a training role within the security industry or similar operational environment.
• Experience designing, delivering, and assessing training programmes.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills.
• Strong competency background in Security (10 years plus experience) who can demonstrate subject matter expertise with a higher level of training qualifications.
• minimum L3 Award in Education and Training, (Pref L4 Certificate in Education and Training or L5 Diploma in Education and Training). - mandatory
• L3 Certificate in Assessing vocational achievement. - mandatory
• L3 Award in First aid at work – mandatory
Desirable
• Experience working on complex or high-profile customer sites.
• Experience in audit, assurance, or competency management.
• IOSH Managing safely or NEBOSH General Certificate - desirable
• With option of being able to deliver SIA related qualifications
• Valid SIA Licence (or ability to obtain).
• Sound knowledge of UK security legislation and industry standards.
