About the role:
The Royal Association for Deaf people is seeking a dedicated Trainer – DeafAdvance to deliver high-quality British Sign Language
(BSL) courses and Deaf Awareness training as part of our growing training centre. This is a key role focused on helping learners
achieve accredited qualifications in BSL Levels 1 to 6, and promoting greater awareness of deaf culture and communication.
This is a fixed-term, 12-month contract. Applications are welcomed from candidates seeking either full-time or part-time hours.
The role is predominantly remote, with a requirement for reasonable travel, including attendance at our London office for meetings
approximately once per quarter.
The salary is £28,000 per annum (full-time equivalent).
Responsibilities as our Trainer will include:
* Plan, deliver and assess BSL courses and Deaf Awareness training to a wide range of learners
* Support learners’ progression through qualifications with tailored coaching and feedback
* Create and maintain engaging, accessible training materials in line with internal quality standards
* Collaborate with the team to promote RAD’s training offer to organisations, employers, and the wider community
* Contribute to ongoing course development, learner onboarding, and evaluation processes
Essential requirements we’re looking for in our Trainer:
* Qualified BSL teacher with current experience in delivering BSL Level 1–2 (essential, Level 3 desirable)
* BSL Level 6 qualification, or equivalent native fluency
* Experience working within the deaf community or deaf education sector
* A recognised teaching/training qualification (or equivalent professional experience)
* Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
* Passion for accessibility, inclusion and deaf advancement
* Reasonable travel will be required
* A willingness to undertake additional training/qualifications that are relevant to the post, including for safeguarding and
data protection.
* Flexible in approach to working including some evenings or weekend when required
* Must undergo an enhanced DBS check
