Duration: 24 weeks (with potential extension)

Pay: PAYE £24.62 per hour / Umbrella £33.15 per hour
Work pattern: Hybrid – 3 days in the office, 2 days remote

About the Client
Lambeth’s Youth Justice Service works with children, young people, victims and partner agencies to reduce re‑offending, promote restorative approaches and improve outcomes for those affected by youth crime. The service is committed to high‑quality, trauma‑informed and inclusive practice.

The Role
The Restorative Practice Officer will lead, deliver and develop restorative justice interventions across the Youth Justice Service. This includes assessments, restorative conferences, victim engagement, group work, Referral Order Panels and wider restorative practice development. The role requires strong communication skills, safeguarding awareness and the ability to work with victims, young people, volunteers and multi‑agency partners.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver and facilitate restorative justice interventions including direct and indirect processes, conferences, victim awareness and group work.

Complete restorative justice assessments for young people and victims, ensuring timely sharing of information with courts, panels and practitioners.

Screen and manage serious or complex cases in line with Restorative Justice Council guidance.

Prepare, support and facilitate restorative processes with victims, young people and families.

Undertake home visits to victims and provide emotional, practical and advocacy support.

Develop and update restorative justice and Referral Order practice guidance.

Represent victims’ views at panels and ensure their perspectives inform intervention plans.

Deliver restorative justice training to YJS staff, partners and community groups.

Recruit, train, supervise and appraise Youth Offender Panel volunteers.

Quality‑assure assessments and analyse complex information to support decision‑making.

Maintain accurate records, monitor activity and report performance information.

Attend planning meetings, reviews, case conferences and multi‑agency forums.

Promote safeguarding and ensure compliance with legislation, policy and best practice.

Contribute to service development, training, evaluation and continuous improvement.

Candidate Requirements
Essential:

Experience delivering restorative justice or youth justice interventions.

Strong understanding of restorative practice principles and national standards.

Ability to work with victims, young people, families and volunteers.

Skilled in assessment, risk management and multi‑agency working.

Excellent communication, facilitation and report‑writing skills.

Ability to manage complex cases and balance safeguarding and public protection.

Desirable:

Experience within a Youth Justice Service.

Training or experience in restorative justice facilitation.
