A friendly and supportive primary school in North Somerset is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Unqualified Teaching Assistant to join their team after the Easter break.
This role is ideal for someone who has experience working with children in informal or community settings such as sports coaching, youth work, mentoring, holiday/summer camps or childcare. No formal TA qualifications are required, just the right attitude, resilience and a passion for helping young learners thrive.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support the class teacher with daily routines, activities and classroom organisation
- Work 1:1 and with small groups to help pupils stay engaged and progress
- Assist with behaviour management using positive, consistent strategies
- Support children with communication, confidence, emotional wellbeing and participation
- Help prepare resources and set up engaging learning environments
- Supervise pupils during breaktimes, transitions and group activities
- Be a positive role model, building strong relationships with pupils
- Work closely with the teacher and wider staff team to create an inclusive classroom
We are seeking individuals who have:
- Experience in sports coaching, youth work, mentoring, playwork, summer camps or other child‑focused roles (highly desirable)
- A patient, energetic and supportive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Confidence managing groups of children
- Reliability, resilience and a commitment to supporting young learners
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
