About the Role
Working both independently and with team members and colleagues from across the Council, and in partnership with other local organisations, you will be working to prepare the City Council to respond to a variety of emergencies.
Daily activities will include researching and analysing a wide range of topics; writing reports and making recommendations based on this research; writing, training on and exercising internal and multi-agency emergency plans; and participating in, leading and developing the work of internal and multi-agency planning meetings.
In the event of a major incident or emergency you would play a key role in the Council’s Emergency Planning response; attending the scene, making assessments, running the Council’s control room and advising senior officers and key external agencies.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:

• A sound understanding of the duties for Local Authorities contained in the Civil Contingencies Act 2004
• Experience in researching, analysing, writing and presenting complex reports
• Experience in project management
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally, and to tailor information to a range of people and organisations
• An understanding of the structure and functions of Local Authorities
• Evidence of working successfully in partnership across different sectors, building and maintaining good working relationships.The role requires you to participate in the on call rota.
This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English, is an essential requirement for the role.
