Summary
Providing routine dental care, including preventive and restorative treatments and monitoring of the developing dentition, for pre-school and school-age children eligible to receive care through the service. This includes all high-risk children and those attending Special Needs Schools. The dental care provided will be evidence-based and under the direction of the Clinical Lead of the Childrens Dental Service. Providing emergency dental care for CDS patients as necessary, within normal working hours. Undertaking, following additional training, if necessary, dental treatment under general anaesthetic or sedation, in line with HSC and GDC Guidance. Ensuring all clinical activities are undertaken in line with the decontamination and prevention of cross infection requirements of HSC and the GDC. Prescribing treatments to be undertaken by Specialist Dental Nurses, Dental Therapists and/or Hygienists, employed in the department, in line with their specific qualifications and abilities. Participating in the execution of dental screening programmes. Liaising with other professionals and disciplines to ensure the dental care provided is in the best interests of the patient. Participating in the Guernsey wide Emergency Dental On-Call Rota in line with the Registration requirements of Guernsey.
