Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
Oak Lodge School is seeking a compassionate, skilled and forward‑thinking PSHE & RSE Lead Teacher to shape an empowering, inclusive curriculum for students aged 11–19 with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs. You will lead statutory PSHE and Relationships & Sex Education across the school, designing accessible, age‑appropriate content that supports pupils’ wellbeing, safety, independence and personal development. Working closely with safeguarding leads and a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure students learn about healthy relationships, consent, emotional regulation, online safety and protective behaviours in ways that meet their individual communication and sensory needs.
What the school offers its staff
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND practitioner ready to step into middle leadership. With one dedicated leadership day each week, you will coach and mentor colleagues, develop high‑quality resources, embed whole‑school wellbeing approaches and create partnerships with external agencies. As part of a values‑led Trust, you’ll benefit from strong senior leadership support, dedicated HLTA assistance, small class sizes, specialist facilities and excellent professional development opportunities—all within a warm, therapeutic environment where every achievement is celebrated.
Commitment to safeguarding
Barnet Special Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Offer of a position is subject to receiving satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS Clearance. An online search will be undertaken on all shortlisted candidates. This search does not form part of the shortlisting process and you will have the opportunity to discuss any issues of concern that may arise from this search at the interview.
