Summary


The post holder will work with all the disciplines in the Generic team to provide psychiatric assessment, consultation, advice and support. The post holder will work with all internal and external agencies within the child’s network to ensure the best possible clinical outcomes



The post holder will be responsible for patients referred to and accepted from the Generic team clinicians. Referrals to the service are received are fromGPs, Paediatricians, Social Care, Education, self-referral and the voluntary sector.It is expected that the consultant appointed will carry Medical oversight and Responsible Clinician for approximately 20-30 young people, almost all of whom will be care co-ordinated by other members of the team. The post holder will also consult widely to other members of the team, and to external agencies. Attend MDT team meetings and Initial assessment hubs. And monthly consultant psychiatrists meetings.



The post holder will work with consultant colleagues to provide psychiatry duty cover 9-5 for GCAMHS.

· Provision of psychiatric care to CYP in the Generic team at Greenwich CAMHS through evaluation, diagnosis, and use of appropriate treatment plans/strategies for children presenting with mental health difficulties.

· High quality note keeping and adherence to clinical standards on our electronic patient record, RiO.

· Contributing to decisions regarding care plans, discharges, and treatment of patients in accordance with medical standards.

· Consultation to the team around psychiatric issues.

· Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure delivery of the right treatment for each young person referred in keeping with evidence-based practice.

· To manage, appraise and give professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreed between consultant colleagues and the medical director and in accordance with the Trust’s personnel policies and procedures.

· To ensure that junior medical staff working with the post holder operate within the parameters of the New Deal and are Working Time Directive compliant.

· To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.

It is envisaged that the post holder will work 6 programmed activities over 3 days. Following appointment there will be a meeting at no later than three months with the Clinical Director and team manager to review and revise the job plan and objectives of the post holder.

The overall split of the programmed activities is 4.5 PAs to be devoted to direct clinical care and 1.5 PAs to supporting professional activities. The timetable is indicative only. A formal job plan will be agreed between the post holder and clinical director within three months after commencing the post
