Job Description
This position serves as the lead facility space planning professional for an Air Force installation, responsible for managing the optimization and utilization of facility assets to support the mission and strategic objectives. You will direct the installation's space planning program by developing and maintaining the Facility Space Optimization Plan (FSOP) and other studies that inform investment decisions. This role involves dividing large-scale projects for team completion and developing innovative solutions by interpreting and adapting policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include leading customer authorizations, managing accurate space allocations, and integrating data analysis to ensure the effective planning and optimization of the installation's footprint.
Qualifications and Key skills
A valid UK driving License (Category B) in addition to:
General Engineer: A degree in an appropriate scientific field plus one year of specialized experience as per the required key skills, or
HND/City and Guilds/ NVQ Level 5/6 in an appropriate scientific field. Progressively more years of specialized experience (as outlined in the key skills) are required for qualifications below degree level.
Community Planner: A degree in Community planning; or related field plus one year of specialized experience as per the required key skills.
Architect: A degree in Architecture plus one year of specialized experience as per the required key skills.
1. Professional engineering and planning knowledge to manage and optimize installation facility space.
2. Skill in analyzing data to solve complex facility planning problems by adapting policies and creating innovative solutions.
3. Experience leveraging IT systems and data sources, including Geo-spatial Integration Management Systems, SMS, and NexGen IT.
4. Proficiency with data analysis tools such as GIS, CADD, project management software, and data science platforms.
5. Skill in communicating orally and in writing with clarity, conciseness, and persuasiveness; and the ability to relate the effect of facility planning decisions on the mission and goals of an installation.
6. Ability to organize, divide, and distribute portions of work to other professional and expert personnel in order to complete large and complex planning projects and resolve complex planning issues.
Conditions of employment
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. This position may also be coded as mission essential.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies. Overtime may be required and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
6. Duties are performed at RAF Alconbury and RAF Molesworth.
NOTE: You will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK
