Summary
As well as being responsible for the delivery of prison and probation services across Wales, HMPPS Wales acts as a key point of contact for the Ministry of Justice relationship with the Welsh Government.
The Justice in Wales Team is responsible for the co-ordination of MoJ’s work in Wales, maintaining and developing the department’s relationship with the Welsh Government. The post presents a unique opportunity to work closely with the devolved administration and to develop a detailed understanding of the relationship with UK government focussing on the opportunities and challenges of delivering justice services in Wales and the interface with the Welsh Government’s devolved services. It is a small, flexible team with opportunities to work with colleagues across the department and beyond and offers significant engagement with senior leaders.
The senior policy manger will deputise for the Head of the Team and will work with colleagues at all levels across MoJ and Welsh Government, covering policy development relating to Welsh justice issues and the department’s overall operations in Wales. The role will also involve engagement with other internal and external partners such as the Police, Police and Crime Commissioners (and their offices) and the Office of the Secretary of State for Wales.
