Assistant Principal - Inclusion and Student Experience
Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum
Plumpton College is a leading provider of land and environmental education in the UK, situated in the heart of the South Downs National Park. We offer a wide range of vocational and academic courses for students of all ages studying from level 1 to Masters degree and across nineteen subject areas including agriculture, animal management, veterinary sciences, horticulture, equine studies, wine, and environmental studies.
Our approach is underpinned by our core values — Professional, Ambitious, Passionate, Supportive, Progressive, and Enterprising — which guide everything we do. We are proud to foster a culture that expects high standards, encourages innovation, and prioritises the learner experience.
We are seeking an inspirational and dynamic leader to take on the newly created role of Assistant Principal for Student Experience and Inclusion. This is a rare opportunity to define and deliver an outstanding student experience, enabling every learner to flourish during their time at Plumpton and achieve success beyond college.
In this role, you will:
Provide leadership across the college, setting the strategic direction for student experience and inclusion, and ensuring all delivery teams cultivate the behaviours, attitudes, and skills that prepare students to thrive academically, personally, and professionally.
Shape and oversee the design and implementation of inclusive, personalised learning support and development, enabling all students to maximise their potential and achieve their career ambitions.
Lead the college’s safeguarding and wellbeing strategy, serving as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, and ensure that systems, policies, and practices maintain the highest standards of student safety and welfare.
Drive the strategic development of holistic student support services, aligning resources, policies, and initiatives to remove barriers, promote equity, and foster an environment where every student can excel and flourish.
This role offers far more than operational leadership—it is an opportunity to make a transformative impact, champion inclusion, and strengthen a vibrant, supportive college community.
About you
We are looking for a visionary, compassionate, and results-driven professional ready to embrace this exciting new chapter with us. You will be a collaborative leader with a genuine passion for improving the student experience, and hold a relevant degree or professional qualification, with experience in SEND or inclusion. You will have a proven track record of improving student outcomes, leading and motivating staff, and applying SEND legislation effectively. Strong communication skills, resilience, and the ability to make decisions and drive positive change are essential, alongside a commitment to ongoing professional development.
You’ll benefit from:
We offer a competitive salary and a generous benefits package, including 30 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and efficiency days. The role is eligible for the Teachers’ Pension Scheme, including employer contributions and life assurance. Staff also benefit from high‑quality CPD and professional development opportunities. As a Disability Confident Committed employer and signatory of the Menopause Pledge, we are proud to support an inclusive working environment.
New colleagues benefit from a structured induction, a supported six‑month probationary period, and a strong coaching culture led by in‑house Level 5 trained coaches.
Employees also enjoy lifestyle and wellbeing benefits, including eligibility for a TOTUM and Blue Light Card, free eye tests, free use of our onsite gym, cycle‑to‑work scheme, discounted Plumpton produce and courses, free onsite parking, and access to our Employee Assistance Programme.
Our commitment to wellbeing and community is further demonstrated through active EDI and Sustainability committees, regular staff events and social activities throughout the year.
We reserve the right to interview or close the vacancy early should we receive a high volume of applications. Early applications are strongly encouraged.
Plumpton College is committed to the promotion of equal opportunities and is dedicated to pursuing non-discriminatory policies and practices and eliminating unfair discrimination on any basis.
Plumpton is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Apply now to take on a pivotal leadership position within a forward‑thinking College committed to excellence, inclusion and student success.
